Gender equality is emphasized as a fundamental human right, crucial for addressing various global challenges such as economic crises, inadequate healthcare, climate change, violence against women, and escalating conflicts. The impact of climate change is highlighted, with a focus on the disproportionate effects on women and girls. Thus, in order for a highly impactful sustainable solution to be reached, women’s expertise and leadership at all levels is crucial to driving sustainable business performance and delivering on the goals of the Paris Agreement. In fact, there are strong and positive correlations between more female board directors and better sustainability practices, including reduced greenhouse gas emissions.This panel discussion at COP28 will contribute to the global dialogue and inspire concrete actions that empower women, foster climate justice, and promote gender equality in the clean energy sector.
