Technology plays a critical role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to the impacts of climate change around the world. The Technology Mechanism accelerates and enhances the development and transfer of climate technologies to achieve the goals of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement. It consists of a policy arm, the Technology Executive Committee (TEC) and an implementation arm, the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN). 



Last year, the first Joint Work Programme of the Technology Mechanism (2023-2027) was launched at a high-level event at COP 27. This year, the COP 28 Presidency continues the prominent focus on the crucial role of the Technology Mechanism by hosting a high-level event on achievements of the Joint Work Programme and announcements of support for the work ahead.
