Living Archives: Nature is a dynamic AI Data Sculpture by Refik Anadol Studio, transforming the interior dome of the Al Wasl Plaza into a beacon of hope and inspiration. Emerging from year-long research conducted at Refik Anadol Studio to build a nature-themed generative AI model, the work suggests that through AI, we can craft powerful art that both commemorate and help preserve the sense of nature for future generations. The artwork is based on meticulously collected and analyzed visuals of water, coral, flora, and global landscapes from public databases. It represents this data in four breathtaking chapters that focus on these thematic datasets. Each chapter pulsates with life through vivid visual narratives and an immersive soundscape crafted from the same data. The artwork embodies a stark reminder of the fragility of our ecosystem, seeking to draw visitors into a dialogue about the urgent need for environmental preservation.
