The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) will convene ministers at COP28 Finance Day (4 December) to discuss the importance of supporting energy transitions that create the enabling environment for decarbonization of high-emitting sectors. Particularly, the event will feature the potential of CIF’s proven programmatic model to support MDBs, governments and the private sector in unlocking investments for emissions reductions in multiple high-emitting, hard-to-abate industry sectors in developing countries, as part of a just and equitable transition. The event will showcase the financial commitments made by contributor countries and innovative finance mechanisms that have the potential to mobilize private capital and raise the volume of much-needed concessional climate finance.
