No Time to Waste: Closing the Climate Loop

Organizers: COP28 Presidency
Climate and Clean Air Coalition
MOCCAE, Tadweer, Roland Berger, Ellen MacArthur Foundation (IPU)

This event underscores the critical role of zero-waste initiatives and the circular economy in addressing climate change. Specifically, it will emphasize the need for the rapid reduction of short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs), including methane, to align with the Paris Agreement's goals and the Global Methane Pledge and the Global Methane Pledge. Further, it will outline a forward-looking approach that highlights the substantial and immediate benefits of transitioning from linear 'collect and dump' methods to embracing circular economy principles and resource management practices. Finally, it will explore the valuable insights gained from successful applications of such transitions. The event will also see the official launch of the Waste to Zero Initiative.
