Mental health and climate change:
evidence, impacts and opportunities

Organizers Name: COP28 Presidency, COP27 Presidency, YCC

Climate change is negatively impacting not only physical health but also mental health, as individuals and communities cope with climate stresses and shocks, as well as threats to their and future generations’ welfare. For affected communities to respond to climate threats, integration of and investment in psychological resilience is crucial.

This event will take stock of what we already know about the impacts of climate change on mental health, what we still don’t understand, and some of the solutions that address the dual challenges of climate change and mental health. The event will also showcase programs and efforts that are recognizing mental health as a priority action for the health response to climate change.
