TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION

To kickstart discussions on the T&I Hub Stage, the T&I team will arrange for programming examining the role of tech and innovation in driving climate action. Discussions will focus on the role that technologies such as AI, IoT, quantum computing, advanced materials etc. can play in addressing various climate challenges.

Having broadly examined the role of different technologies the previous day on the T&I Hub Stage, Day 2 will focus on the criticality of developing and nurturing climate-tech ecosystems, particularly in the Global South. Discussions will focus on enabling cross-regional links, supporting Global South ecosystems, and enabling players in climate tech to build robust ecosystems.

In line with the Health/Relief, Recover & Peace thematic, programming on the T&I Hub Stage will focus on the role of technology in countering climate change induced disasters and aiding the provision of healthcare. Day 3 will examine technology solutions to these challenges through disease monitoring, disaster forecasting, emergency coordination and aid provision. It will also explore the need to unlock private sector finance for insurance and recovery, and enhance resilience through capacity building for at risk communities.

In line with the Finance/ Trade/ Gender Equality Accountability thematic, programming on the T&I Hub Stage will focus on the role of technology in enabling equitable allocation of capital to finance a just transition. Day 4 will examine fintech solutions for climate to explore how financial services can be more easily accessed. It will also explore the need for increased digital, climate and financial literacy for at risk populations.

In line with the Energy, Industry and Just Transition thematic, programming on the T&I Hub Stage will focus on the role of technology in enabling the just energy transition and overcoming challenges such as decarbonizing high emitting sectors, and ensuring inclusive energy access. Day 5 will examine decarbonization drivers and decarbonization technologies that are providing solutions to these challenges and enabling inclusive energy access. It will also explore the need to support and scale energy innovation through incentives and policies that reward successful research.

In line with the Multilevel action, Urbanization and Build environment / Transport thematic, programming on the T&I Hub Stage will focus on the role of technology in countering the climate change impact of urbanization and the environmental impact of mobility and logistics. Day 6 will examine technology solutions for the urban environment and the scaling of electric mobility. It will also explore the need for stakeholder inclusion and management, and implementing climate aware policies.

In line with the Youth, Children, Education and Skills thematic, programming on the T&I Hub Stage will focus on the role of technology in reducing the impact of climate change on the youth and the need to drive youth inclusion in climate action. Day 8 will examine technology solutions facilitating education and skills for climate, future-proofing education through tech literacy and empowering the youth through technology. It will also explore the role played by open knowledge sources and online platforms in enabling empowerment of the youth.

In line with the Nature, Land Use and Oceans thematic, programming on the T&I Hub Stage will focus on the role of technology in countering the impact of climate change on nature and various ecosystems. Day 9 will examine technology solutions mitigating and reversing climate change impact through monitoring and protecting nature, providing quantifiable value to conservation and other such intersections of technology and natural preservation. It will also explore the need to enable and empower indigenous and at-risk communities to continue safeguarding the environment.

In line with the Food, Agriculture and Water thematic, programming on the T&I Hub Stage will focus on the role of technology in reducing the environmental footprint of food and water systems and the impact of climate on food and water security. Day 10 will examine technology solutions driving sustainable agriculture practices and water management. It will also explore the need for policies that enable sustainable growth of food and water systems.
